Good morning, everyone!!!
It has been a pretty productive week thus far :) I managed to get done on time yesterday since truck showed up at a decent hour!!! Also I found out I've earned 73 hours of vacation time for this year!!! Let's just say I'm thrilled by this :) I can see some long weekends ahead in my future :)
Okay, this is just disgusting.... I went in to make my second cup of coffee and instead of putting a coffee cup in the Kreurig I put a hot chocolate cup in. Yeah, I sat back down here to continuing typing this blog and took the first sip of what I thought would be my coffee only to get a mouth full of chocolate. I like chocolate don't get me wrong, but not when I'm expecting my liquid energy. Ahhhhh, what a morning and its just gotten started.... Guess I should wear my glasses when putting in my coffee, huh?!?
Now even with my sweet cream in my coffee it still tastes a bit bitter. Oh well, life is life.
I'm supposed to get off at 2 p.m. today. Which is perfect seeing as it is payday!!! A trip to the bank after work, pay a couple of bills, then home to fold a bit of laundry and then settle in for some writing and work on my newsletter. I need to transfer names and emails over to a document so I can have them handy. So that is the first line of order for my newsletter work this month.
My daughter-in-law and I made some summer plans yesterday. I'm so excited for the warmer months and camping season to get here now. Yes, we all plan well in advance seeing as we all have to save up for things like this :) But I do believe this little plan of ours will also make not only having a camper worth the while, but also bring such a wonderful bonding time for all of us. It will also be wonderful with having so much vacation time this year :)
Last night was the first night in a few days I've been able to sleep good. Our little quiet town was rocked the other night and so was my quiet little neighborhood. We don't have much that goes on in our small town. Less than normal break ins and such. We just have a good little town.
Then Saturday night, I was sitting on my loveseat that is positioned in my living room by our large window. Even with the curtains closed I suddenly felt uneasy. You know that 'hair that stands up on the back of your neck' uneasy. I decided it was time to go to my room. The boys came with me and all 190+ pounds of them got up on the bed with me. Shadow laying on daddy's pillow, while Baby Bear laid across my feet. I was asleep in no time.
The next morning I woke up and one of the people on my facebook asked, Who got shot in Jonesboro? I was like huh?!? someone got shot in our little town???
It wasn't long before I realized it was my neighbors a block and a half away. One died and one seriously injured. This all happened ten minutes after I went to bed.
Things like this don't happen in our little town. In fact, where the shooting took place I've walked by it many times in the middle of the night on nightly walks in the warmer months. Never have I ever felt unsafe walking the streets of my neighborhood at midnight in the past. In fact, late at night on a warm summer night is my favorite time to walk.
The killers are still at large. Which makes everyone a bit uneasy around here. I live in a hundred plus year old home, so there is tons of strange noises at night in this old house. Never and I mean never have these noises disturbed me in the past. But now, every creak, pop, or odd sound has me waking up, listening, and trying to figure out its source.
I know, silly, but man, it is a bit scary. Jonesboro isn't a high crime area. In fact, we're just a small USA town, where everybody knows everybody, and no one is a stranger around here. It's a great place to raise kids. A nice quiet little town tucked away in a corner of Indiana. Sure, we've had our kids out of control, aspects from time to time. But never have we had such a thing as murder and definitely not in our little peaceful neighborhood.
We sit out on our porches late at night. We have bonfires in our backyards. We even stay in our campers out in the yard from time to time with no thought to threat.
So yes, this has shaken up my little world slightly. I'm just glad last night I was able to sleep without incident. My house noises didn't bother me. But it is still a bit unnerving.
The community is outraged over the senseless murder of an 81 year old man who would have given you the shirt off his back. I'll always remember his smile as I walked by his house in the summer, while he sat out on his porch visiting with neighbors and watching his corgies play. He always had a friendly hello for me :)
Well I guess it is shower time.
Everyone have a lovely day!!!
Blessings to all!!!
