wants us to give you a little insight on A Day in the Life: What we do when we’re NOT writing?
When I wrote my blog for Romance Writers Weekly blog, my life was even more insane that it is now. I learned after a bout with my heart this past fall, I have no choice but to level things out a bit more and quit acting like I’m still 20 something.
Life for this author is still a bit insane. On a daily basis I watch my grandchildren, a great niece, and great nephews while their mommies work, but I’ve cut down on how many of the great nieces and nephews I keep. This takes up a good portion of my mornings and early afternoons. So lots of toddler and preschooler interactions J which feeds my love of children.
I’m married to a long haul truck driver. Early in our married life hubby began this occupation, so it has been a way of life for us almost thirty years into marriage. Entertaining my self is something I have down to a science J
When I’m not watching little ones or hiding away in the writing cave, I am enjoying the love of our furbies, Mimi, a nine year old mixed breed, seventy-five pound dog, Shadow, our two and a half year old, husky mix, who is known affectionately amongst my children as ‘the favorite child’, our newest addition, Shadow’s blood brother from a different litter, Bear, who is just a sweet eight weeks old, and our lovely feline, Lexi, who is not happy with us right now for bringing another one of ‘those dogs’ into her house.
I’ve also added two daily walks to my daily routine. Hubby, my oldest son, and my one day son-in-law managed to get a walking machine up our windy stairwell and into my office for me. This is to help me in getting back on track with my daily exercise and help bring my cholesterol levels down.
I am also currently working on home improvements. Doing the things I can without hubby’s help, like stripping wall paper, painting, saving the harder more difficult tasks for him, like new flooring, putting up new paneling, you know the hard stuff J With three grown kids it is now time to do home renovations that will last more than a few months or years. We knew buying this 100 year old fixer-upper we would be investing in some changes, and with limited home time for hubby, well, they are definitely slow moving J
Most of my time is spent working on my next greatest American novel, so many I’m afraid to say that I want to get out in 2015 that there really won’t be time for much else past writing this up and coming year. But I will continue to push forward with my busy days and hopefully by this time next year there will be a few more novels under my belt and a few newly remodeled rooms in this place to sit back and enjoy J
