Recognized this from a crit I did ages ago. Still like this story!

** Very well written! It was easy to follow, the conflicts were well-defined

Interview:
by Rebecca Southerland on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 9:04am

I just finished reading The Cheyenne Bride by J J Devine. It was an amazing novel. It was unique because just when you thought you knew exactly which direction it would turn it did a complete change. It definitely kept me interested all throughout the book. It was so beautifully written in the sense that it made you feel like you were right there. The words painted a picture for you. I can’t wait to read another novel by J J Devine. I thought you all might like to get to know the author so I did a private interview and here it is…

First of all…tell us a little bit about yourself outside your writing.

I like to read Historical and Paranormal romance novels. I like to watch shows with hot sexy vampires and Native American men. I love being a hands-on grandmother. My latest addiction is Photography.

When did you first start writing and what inspired you to write?

I’ve been writing my whole life. I started with poetry when I was younger. I started writing my first book when my youngest son was a baby and he is almost sixteen now. Author Margaret Moore actually inspired me to write Historical Romance novels. I read “A Warriors Heart” and I loved her style. The novel held my attention and I thought to myself I want to write stories like that.

What is your style of writing…or should I say styles? And why did you choose these styles?

Historical and Paranormal Romance novels are my styles. They say write what you know and those are the two I like to read. I like novels that start right out with the hero and heroin.

How long did it take you to complete The Cheyenne Bride or how many different copies have you written?

It was the first novel I started sixteen years ago. It has had four different titles, at least five major changes, and numerous minor changes over the years. I still have the original copy hidden in my house. I keep it to remind myself how far I have come.

Where did you get the inspiration for the characters in this particular novel?

Their names were inspired by my children and grandchildren and some of the names are friends also.

Are any of your characters pertaining to personalities in your real life?

The characters in my novels tell their own story I simply write it down. Believe me, these characters are telling their story in ways I never dreamed of.

Are there more novels in this series to follow?

Yes, It was originally a six novel series and has turned into a seven novel series. All the novels in the series are about the characters in the original novel. I actually wrote the first novel knowing it would be a series. There are currently three novels completed and will be a fourth by the end of this month.

What kind of response have you received from your readers?

All the feedback I have received has been positive. One editor loved the high conflict and that the characters were combustible. The other responses stated that they like the personal relationships I have with my characters and the emotional content.

How can readers contact you and keep up on your writing world?

Loved it! I want to know what happens next.

** Nice heat ;-)   **

Ava seems like a good, strong heroine. A nice match for Shadow Walker. The only thing I had a problem with was her thoughts in italics. Seems like they could have been included without coming across as direct thoughts.
