Good afternoon, everyone!!! Welcome back to Romance Writers Weekly!!! This week’s challenge comes from Sarah Hegger. She wants to hear about our Great Beginnings - A great opening line draws the reader in, makes them want to know more and compels them to read further. She would like us to share a great opening line from a story we’ve enjoyed, then turn around and share one of our own opening lines.
I am an avid fan of Jane Austen. So of course I will be sharing one of her opening lines. I adore her books and the movies they’ve made from them. My all-time favorite of her stories has been and probably always will be, Pride and Prejudice. This story of two people misconceiving the personalities of one another only to see the truth and allowing themselves to open to each other, just melts my heart every time.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen

Now for mine, no, my works are nowhere close to Jane Austen’s works, so I do hope you enjoy!!!
The opening paragraph of Destiny’s Price, second book in The Acceptance Series coming to you soon!!!
“Go away! Just go away. No more. Please, oh please, no more.” The terrified begging added to the guilt already consuming Stephen Davis. The scene before him was something out of the newspaper, describing a brutal massacre. The light of the fireplace should’ve enveloped the tiny one room, hunting cabin. All it managed to do was cast off an eerie glow to an already gruesome sight; blood drenched sheets, wooden floor, and walls stained crimson. His sister-in-law, Nichole, stood beside the bed, trembling. Her petite hand covering her mouth, as tears streamed down her cheeks.
